Who Was Wesley Watkins?  Wesley Watkins
The BONENT scholarships are named in honor of Wesley Watkins. He was a dialysis technician who served on the BONENT Board of Directors for over ten years and Secretary/Treasurer. He chaired the Finance Committee and was actively involved in legislative issues relating to dialysis technicians in the south. He passed away in 2002. Wesley Watkins Scholarship
The Wesley Watkins Scholarship is
awarded annually to as many as four BONENT members in good
standing: two international and two U.S. members. Competition
is based on a winning essay written by the applicants. The
topic is determined by the BONENT Board of Directors.
The 2009-10 topic is “What are the professional boundaries in the dialysis clinic?”
Criteria for Submission & Selection
- The individual must be currently
employed in the field of nephrology.
- The applicant must be BONENT-certified
for at least one year.
- Two letters of recommendation
from nephrology professionals must be included with the
application.
- The applicant is required to
submit a one-page essay on the current topic (on a CD or via email as a Word document attachment), as advertised
in Update, the BONENT quarterly newsletter, or published
on the organization’s website.“What are the professional boundaries in the dialysis clinic? ” is the 2009-10 essay topic.
