Refunds, Exam Transfers & Withdrawals

Withdraw Processes
Requests to withdraw from a scheduled examination must be received in writing, postmarked, 20-days prior to the examination date. A refund of the application fee, minus a $65 processing fee, will be issued. Faxed requests are accepted at the BONENT Executive Office (202) 463-1257, and must be signed and include your social security number. E-mail requests are not accepted.

Transfer Processes
Applicants who wish to transfer to a future examination must do so in writing (indicate original examination date and desired transfer date) with the $65 processing fee, postmarked 20-days prior to the examination date. Faxed requests are accepted at the BONENT Executive Office (202) 463-1257, and must be signed and include your social security number. E-mail requests are not accepted.

Incomplete Processes
If your exam application is incomplete, you must complete it within the given timeframe, or do one of the following:
  • Request to withdraw from the exam
  • Request to transfer to another exam date
If you do not do any of the above within 1 year of the original exam date for which you applied, you will forfeit the full exam fee and you will have to pay the full exam fee the next time you apply.

Special Circumstances
In the event that a candidate CANNOT sit for a scheduled examination due to the death of an immediate family member (mother, father, siblings), unexpected natural disaster, or the candidate's hospitalization, the candidate will be able to sit for the next scheduled examination in his/her area. Documentation of the event must accompany the written transfer request. All requests for special circumstances or transfer must be submitted in writing (by mail or fax) no later than 30 days after the scheduled exam with the $65 processing fee.
